Opulence & Eccentricity in West London

From glamorous chandeliers and ornate mirrors to fabulously offbeat wallpaper patterns to a quirky mix of furniture, this West London home stirs it all together to create a chic--and somehow not-overwhelming--look in every room. My favourite space is the bathroom, with its shiny silver tub, enormous gold mirror, and elegant chandelier. I would feel like royalty, soaking in such surroundings!

I'm quite excited to see Baz Luhrmann's upcoming film adaptation of The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald's iconic 1920s novel.

The new film stars Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanen, Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, and Tobey MacGuire as Nick Carraway. With Luhrmann's typical panache, this film will be sure to dazzle our senses with 3-D effects and a soundtrack by Jay-Z. The costumes have been designed, in collaboration with Miuccia Prada, by Luhrmann's wife Catherine Martin, who won an Oscar for her work on Moulin Rouge!

Vogue magazine recently published a fashion editorial featuring Carey Mulligan wearing a deliciously decadent selection of ensembles by top designers, photographed by Mario Testino, inspired by the The Great Gatsby. As you can see, every image is exquisite. I'm hoping the film will be equally thrilling to view.

From Mattress Factory to Shabby Chic Home

It's hard to believe that a former mattress factory could be transformed into such a cozy and feminine home. Thanks to loads of white paint, white laminate flooring, and the owner's lovely collection of decor, the rooms have become the sort of shabby chic home that many a gal has dreamed of. My favourite space is the enormous bedroom/ bathroom, with its charming shutters, claw-foot tub, and girly pink bed. Adorable!

Wedding Wednesday: Shoes for Something Blue

I'm sure that most of you have heard the traditional bridal mantra about having "something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue".

A lovely trend for the bride's "something blue" is to wear blue shoes on her wedding day. Personally, my favourite blue-hued shoe is the bottom image, the light blue jewelled Manolo Blahnik open-toes heels. The deeper blues, from cobalt to indigo, are all gorgeous, as well. Such hues look incredibly striking in contrast with a white wedding gown.

What do you think? Would you wear blue shoes, as a bride? Did you have something blue on your wedding day?

Scandi-Style Timber Home in Melbourne

A soft, pale colour palette and a seamless Scandi-style design scheme have brightened and revitalized this 1970s timber home in Melbourne, Australia. Owners Simone and Rhys Haag like to call their labour of love "The Log Cabin". The couple transformed the property into this beautiful home in a mere three months' time! Considering Simone works for a well-known interior designer, and Rhys is a construction manager, the pair
definitely had the skills for the job, and the results are amazing.

I love the light, relaxed feel of the spaces, and the minimal yet cozy mix of the couple's personal collections in this home. Vintage and contemporary items, alongside softly-coloured wooden pieces, add heaps of warmth and charm to the rooms. Connecting indoors and out, large windows allow gorgeous views of the surrounding Dandenong ranges. My favourite touch is the white hammock just outside the lounge. It looks like such a perfect spot to relax, doesn't it? What a serene place to call home.
