Fab Frock Friday: On the Edge of Deep Blue

Deep blue veering toward violet is how I would describe the colour of this gorgeous gown by Juan Carlos Obando, worn by Katie Aselton at the premiere of 'Zero Dark Thirty' in Hollywood.

This colour is just so vibrant and sexy. I think this dress--or a dress in this colour, would make a stunning choice for New Year's Eve, for those of you who are celebrating in style this year.

Spanish Flair

Since the Christmas festivities are winding down, I'm in the mood to look at beautiful rooms, once again (not surprisingly, that didn't take long!).

This gorgeous house in Spain's Basque country, designed by Isabel López-Quesada, was once a factory. Now, as you can see, it is a gracious family home, full of sunshine and warmth.

I always enjoy seeing rooms with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams, so how could I not adore this house? I love the quirky dual staircase in the lounge. My other favourite element in this home is the pair of stainless steel refrigerators in the kitchen. I would love to have those--and a kitchen large enough to put them in! Dare to dream...

I hope you all are enjoying a fabulous holiday week.

Fab Frock Friday: Blue Hues

***

Last night, I dreamed about blue gowns. I must be in the mood for cool blue hues. Maybe it is the summer heat getting to me, inspiring me to long for cooler colours.

Well, I'm enjoying looking at these lovely blue dresses for Fab Frock Friday, and I hope you will enjoy seeing them, too.

Have a beautiful weekend, everyone.

Gather 'Round

I thought you might enjoy seeing some gorgeous holiday tables today.

If you are like me, you might be wondering how you are going to bring it all together--just one week from now!--to make a fabulous and welcoming table setting for your loved ones, when they gather 'round for Christmas lunch or dinner.

I'm still trying to pull together some elements (some of which may require getting crafty in the next few days, some of which I already have), to set our holiday tables this year. We'll see how it goes.

As much as I love simple table settings, with just a couple of lovely personal touches, I also adore tables which go over-the-top in their design.

My favourite holiday table setting, in these images, is that marvelous snowfall made of marshmallows.
Wow! One day I'm going to have to make something like that.

Wishing you all a wonderful week of merry-making!

Holiday Drama

Black and white holiday decorations have been catching my eye this year. The strikingly simple contrast of black and white is just so gorgeous. Add a little gold and/or silver, and you have an utterly chic look for your holiday decor.

Happy holidays, everyone!
